Roofing Service in La Mirada
Alpha & Omega Roofing has been roofing Southern California properties since 1960, and La Mirada borders Whittier, where our office is. We are locally owned and locally operated, licensed, bonded and insured. Half of La Mirada’s houses were built in the 1950s, so the typical job here is a full tear-off on a roof that has been replaced at least once before. We repair, maintain, inspect and replace roofs on houses, apartments and commercial buildings across the city. We also serve nearby Santa Fe Springs and Buena Park.

Roofing Options for Every Style & Budget
Shingles
Asphalt Shingles
Asphalt shingles are the most common roof in La Mirada. They are affordable, install quickly and handle inland heat well when they are nailed to the manufacturer’s pattern.
Dimensional Shingles
Dimensional shingles are laminated in layers, giving the roof depth and hiding small dips in an older deck. They also carry longer manufacturer coverage than a three-tab.
Fiberglass Shingles
Fiberglass shingles are built on a glass mat, which keeps them light and gives them a strong fire rating. They are a practical choice for residential roofs on original postwar framing.
Tile
Lightweight Tiles
Lightweight tile is the usual way to put tile on a 1950s La Mirada house. It keeps the look of tile while taking much of the load off framing built for shingles.
Concrete Tiles
Concrete tile is dense and wind-resistant, and broken pieces can be replaced one at a time. On houses built for it, it lasts for decades with little more than flashing maintenance.
Clay Tiles
Clay tile is fired, so its color runs all the way through and does not fade. It is the heaviest option, so we check the framing before quoting it.
License and Manufacturer Certifications
Alpha & Omega Roofing, Inc. holds California contractor license #C39-857106. We hold current manufacturer certifications with GAF, Malarkey, Owens Corning, CertainTeed, Versico, FiberTite, and DOW, covering steep-slope shingle and tile work as well as single-ply commercial systems. Those certifications let us register manufacturer-backed warranties of up to 20 years on material and workmanship. We carry workers’ compensation and liability insurance, and our customer reviews are published on the site.
We specify cool-roof rated products that meet the Title 24 aged solar reflectance and thermal emittance values, from the manufacturer lines we are certified to install.
What La Mirada Homeowners Should Know Before a Reroof
La Mirada does not run its own building department. The City contracts plan review and inspections to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, Building and Safety Division, which staffs the permit counter at La Mirada City Hall, 13700 La Mirada Boulevard. Re-roofing is not on the County’s list of work exempt from a permit, so a re-roof needs one. Applications are filed at the counter, and inspections are requested by phone.
Because the County handles permits, the building code your re-roof is checked against is the Los Angeles County Building Code, Title 26, which La Mirada adopts by reference in Chapter 17.04 of its Municipal Code. The City also adopted the State Fire Marshal’s Fire Hazard Severity Zone map in Ordinance 743, codified at Section 16.04.080, and homes in a Very High zone must meet the Class A roof requirements of Building Code Chapter 7A. Construction noise is allowed from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday under Section 9.04.010(b)(4).
La Mirada is one of the oldest housing markets we work in. Census figures for 2020 to 2024 give a median year built of 1960 across 15,701 housing units, with 49.1 percent built in the 1950s and 79.6 percent standing before 1980. Roofs on those houses are on their second or third covering, and a tear-off often reveals original skip sheathing that has to be covered before a modern roof goes on.
La Mirada, ZIP 90638, falls in California Building Climate Zone 9 under the Energy Commission’s ZIP code table. Neighboring Cerritos and La Habra are Zone 8, so the cool-roof values that apply in La Mirada are not the same ones that apply a few blocks away.
Trusted Across Southern California Since 1960
We roof houses across La Mirada and the surrounding cities, and our crews have also worked on institutional buildings elsewhere in Southern California. Those clients hired us for the reason homeowners do: the detail work holds and the crew finishes when it says it will. A single-family re-roof gets the same crews and the same license as a large contract.

Roof Maintenance in La Mirada, CA
On a roof this age, small problems turn into leaks quickly. Our maintenance service puts a roofer on the roof on a schedule to replace cracked tile, re-secure lifted shingles, renew pipe boots and clear valleys and gutters. Every visit is photographed, so you can see how the roof is holding up and plan a replacement before it becomes urgent.
Roof Repairs in La Mirada, CA
Water can travel between old roof layers before it shows on a ceiling, so the stain is rarely under the leak. Alpha & Omega Roofing has spent more than six decades tracing leaks to the source. On La Mirada houses that is usually a failed vent boot, a worn valley, or flashing that was reused when the roof was last replaced. We open the area, replace what got wet, rebuild the detail and photograph it.
Roof Inspections in La Mirada, CA
An inspection tells you how much life the roof has left before you buy, sell or renew insurance, and on an older La Mirada house it also tells you how many layers you are dealing with. Your roofer walks the surface, checks the attic and photographs underlayment, flashing, valleys and penetrations.
Re-Roofing in La Mirada, CA
A full roof replacement from Alpha & Omega Roofing strips a La Mirada roof to the deck, covers skip sheathing with new solid decking where needed, and installs new underlayment, flashing and a cool-roof rated covering that meets Zone 9 values. We schedule the County inspections and close out the permit properly at the end.
